¿Qué es un adverbio?
Un adverbio es una parte del discurso que se usa para describir un verbo, un adjetivo u otro adverbio. Simplemente les dice a los hablantes cómo, dónde, cuándo o el grado en que se hizo algo. Por ejemplo:
They drive fast.
The architects are very smart.
The horse ran very slowly.
Tipos de adverbios
– Adverbios de manera, indican cómo se produce la acción:
The lawyer explained the case clearly.
The accountant was working hard.
– Adverbios de lugar, indican dónde ocurre la acción:
The farmers lived there for five years.
The fishermen sold the fish here.
– Adverbios de tiempo, indican cuándo ocurre la acción:
The actress performs here tonight.
The engineers could meet yesterday.
– Adverbios de frecuencia, indican con qué frecuencia ocurre una acción:
The clerks always come on time.
The homemaker is never sleeping.
– Adverbios de certeza, indican qué tan cierta es una acción:
Sarah certainly defended against the accusations.
The bricklayer obviously set that wall in one day.
– Adverbios de grado, indican la intensidad de una acción, un adjetivo u otro adverbio:
The boy hardly got to the top of the mountain.
The tailor seemed very focused on the job.
The receptionist wrote very slowly.
Los adverbios interrogativos y relativos son los mismos (cómo, dónde, cuándo,
por qué, de quién) pero se usan de diferentes maneras:
This is how the pilot had to land the plane.
How did the pilot land the plane?
That was the office where the secretary worked.
Where did the secretary work?
